CGAs Only: Virtual Tax Club

Join an exclusive discussion group (CGA's only) where we talk about tax.

What type of tax do we discuss? ...personal, investment, property, self-employment, payroll, GST/HST, shareholders, estates and trusts, vehicles, home office, CCA, capital gains & losses

...pretty much anything to do with people and tax, but we don't get into corporate or really complex planning as there are other resources available for those types of tax conversations.

The fine print:

CGA's only! Any CGA, be they a controller, accountant, retired government employee, and of course, public practitioners.

This is not just a BC group, there are participants from other provinces!

This is NOT for your students or staff, it's only for you...

The sessions are NOT recorded and are treated as confidential. Why? No one would speak up if there were students or staff on the calls, that's why it's exclusively for CGA's.

You must attend to obtain verifiable PD hours. Your attendance record is submitted to J Martin at CGA BC. CGA's in other provinces will receive a record of attendance for verifiable hours at year end.

Tax reading materials should qualify for non verifiable PD points and that's where TaxLinks Pro Portal comes in really handy.

The portal is included when you pay for just one month's meeting. TaxLinks Pro Portal is one way to follow what I'm researching, or have researched and written about. When I attend tax updates, if there's interesting court cases, I find those cases on www.canlii.org and add them to the subject matter listing of court cases too! Makes for some entertaining reading and conversation plus learning about how our tax system works in the courts.

Here's a testimonial from a CGA practitioner in the Cariboo:

"I love Eileen’s, the Tax Detective, teleconference that occurs once a month. Information provided online is easy to find and readily available. The experience that Eileen brings to tax accounting is incredibly beneficial in that it informs us of important points to remember that may not have occurred to us prior. She also assists us in improving communication with our clients by providing us with questions we wouldn’t otherwise remember to ask. The opportunity to ask questions and discuss difficulties with another accountant is invaluable to those of us that are sole practitioners."

another attendee who connects from her office in Abbotsford has this to say...

I have had the privilege of knowing Eileen for a number of months now.  She has been a most valued source of tax information for me.  However, she has also been very supportive and inspiring as well!  Every time I have had questions on tax issues,  Eileen either has information on her website or has responded very quickly with whatever help she can provide.  In all cases, Eileen goes above and beyond with her assistance.   I am very appreciative of her knowledge, experience, and professionalism.  Her website is a tool which all tax professionals should have bookmarked!  Thanks Eileen for all that you do!
