Welcome, free information about Canadian tax.
For first time visitors, two pages to visit are Personal Tax Credits and Tax and Financial. There I've posted useful links to information Canadians should know about their tax system to reduce the tax they pay.
CRA has done a lot to inform and educate on their website. Unfortunately unless you know to visit there and how to search, you might never learn about many programs that could reduce the tax you pay.
In my shopping cart you'll find a tax club for CGAs and a subscription called TaxLinks, more in-depth research topics for CGA's hunting for PD points. I've done the work for you, linking to everything you'd learn and maybe find if you had time to attend a tax update course.
You'll find my expertise is specifically on how personal tax credits work, self-employed income and keeping records. But I research and write on a number of tax topics. I'm a master at working from home and managing a home office.
Speaker for your next event?
Stories are incredibly powerful tools. Whether it's for families, business owners, bookkeepers, accountants, and yes, even corporate controllers, I connect with my audiences by telling stories.
Think tax just isn't interesting? My Toastmasters Club is always amazed they understand talks on tax and how motivated they are to dig out their medical receipts to reduce the tax they pay.
Here are some fun titles to ask me to speak on for your next event:

Tax information for families and advisors:
Personal Tax Credits is a webpage just for families. I speak to a variety of audiences, often sponsored by organizations that support families who support a family member with a disability. This is the webpage where you'll find more webpages and useful links for hours of reading for families.
CRA created a video specifically for QP's completing a T2200 Disability application form:
Disability Tax Credit Information for Taxpayers and Qualified Medical Practitioners
I don't make a lot of money from speaking about disability issues. Most of my income comes from QuickBooks training and some tax work for a small group of clients. I really hate April and refuse to do more than 30 tax returns. My feet swell if I sit for that many hours at once. I wish CRA would disband the April 30 deadline and make your birth month your filing deadline month or do some other sort of lottery system to even out the workflow.
