"Hi Eileen, I attended one of your presentations over a year ago and was very impressed with not only the wealth of information you shared with families of children and adults with a disability, but also the manner in which you presented which made it easy for the lay person to understand.
I am a sister of someone with a developmental disability, a mother of a young adult with special needs and a manager with Community Living BC.
Community Living BC, a Crown Corporation of the Ministry of Social Housng and Development, provides supports and services to children with special needs and adults with developmental disabilities.
I believe that many families living in the Upper Fraser are not aware of the tax savings they can apply for due to living with and/or supporting someone with a disability.
I know that this must be an extremely hectic time for you but I was hoping that you would be able do a presentation to the families and self advocates who reside in the Upper Fraser (centre being Abbotsford)..."
Kerry Lawson, Manager, Community Living BC, Upper Fraser Valley, January 30, 2009

This 2.5 to 3 hour workshop is for taxpayers, especially the taxpayers in your family who pay the bills, not just the medical bills, but the basic essentials like food, shelter, clothing for family with an infirmity or disability.
If your family includes a person with a disability or your family has medical expenses, this workshop is a must attend!
This workshop can be tailored for support groups for families with a youth in transition. See the webpage especially created for the Pacific Spirit Community Centre Youth in Transition support group.
This is the perfect workshop for family councils at care homes where parents are in care.
Invite caregivers, nursing staff, social workers, doctors, chiropractors, physiotherapists, audiologists and psychologists and don't forget accountants who provide professional services to your family.
Everyone who supports families needs to understand how these credits can significantly reduce the tax paid by families. They may even find that they have been paying too much tax and just haven't had the time to learn how to reduce their taxes payable too!
Why host a seminar?
Tax refunds can be significant. $1,400 a year for the disability tax credit for 10 years prior under fairness if that's how far back your impairment in ability has been severe and prolonged. Another $800 a year for caregiver credits not claimed.
Reduction in frustration with tax administration can result with knowledge about what and how to claim.
It's not unheard of for families to get refunds of tax paid of $14,000 to $20,000 for the previous 10 years for disability tax credit, child disability supplements and medical expense claims they did not know they were entitled to claim.
If a person qualifies for the disability tax credit, if they are under age 49 there may be as much as $90,000 available in bonds and matching grants through the Registered Disability Savings Plan over the next 20 years, starting in December 2008.
What will we learn?
Who might qualify for the disability tax credit, who should claim, how to apply
How to request an adjustment for the past ten years
What other benefits that depend on the disability tax credit
How to claim Medical expenses - over 120 different types
How to deal with caregiver payroll and minimize risk if there's an accident or injury
NEW: How the Registered Disability Savings Plan works!

There are only a limited number of dates for Pay Less Tax seminars available every spring as workshops are usually conducted on Saturday during the day for 3 hours in February and March. Why? Because that's when families can attend and Eileen prefers not to present or drive at night in the winter on icy roads.
Consider an online live webinar instead.
