BC Education Fund Helps Former Youth in Care

June 10, 2025

A $1-million grant to B.C.’s Youth Education Assistance Fund will help more youth formerly in government care pursue post-secondary education and training, BC Premier Gordon Campbell announced June 9.

“This fund provides up to $5,500 a year for up to four years, so former youth in care can pay for tuition, books or day-to-day living expenses at college, university or vocational training. Since 2002, the Youth Education Assistance Fund [YEAF] has helped 420 youth, and this additional funding will ensure more youth formerly in care get the same opportunity to pursue their dreams.”
