Parliament was prorogued today until March 2010. That's a good thing in my estimation. I hope Finance uses this time to get it's house in order to present those technical amendments to the Income Tax Act.
The AG, in her November 2009 report discusses how technical amendments haven't been getting to the house for discussion since 2001. It's true. Every tax update I attend the book of unresolved technical amendments grows thicker.
Justice website has a note up saying that they plan to post those amendments in grey in their version of the Income Tax Act. This should be a rather large undertaking as there are a lot of amendments in grey when I flip through my copy of the Practitioners Income Tax Act published by Carswell. If Justice does this I won't have to continue paying over $100 every few months for a copy of the Act. Wonder how CCH and Carswell feel about this move.
