Someone emailed me the other day to say that she was sure grandmas were ‘googling’ but they weren’t ‘googling’ — about tax and they should be. My mom’s going to be 79 this year and she’s been ‘googling’ for years now. She, like most grannies, doesn’t pay any tax and she lives on her own.

It’s possible there are significant tax savings for her family if she lives with them. The caregiver tax credit for living with your family is an incentive she should know about. This is the underutilized incentive for adult children to keep parents and grandparents out of ...
